This show brings the audience great things Ohioans are doing to make their communities, the state, the region, and the world a better place as entrepreneurs, leaders, historical and popular culture figures.

For episode 63, I had the pleasure of conducting a second conversation with Dr. Duke Pesta, an English Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Director of the Freedom Project Academy.  Dr. Duke speaks often on the drawbacks of Common Core in the United States educational system.

To connect with the Outstanding Ohioans show, here are a few ways:

Here were the topics we discussed in our second conversation:

  • What helped him become an very interesting, engaging public speaker?  Check out this video talking about Common Core.
  • Hear about the "contract" he has his college students sign on the first day of class to promote freedom of speech and discussion of multiple viewpoints
  • Hear about his on-line primary school Freedom Project Academy.  He discusses the type of curriculum, the methodology, and Socratic teaching approach.
  • Check out Dr. Duke's podcast here.  This weekly show discusses issues/topics at all levels of eductation.

Tired of always trying to keep your phone charged? Check out this great on-the-go battery charger.

I highly recommend The Tuttle Twin book series by Connor Boyack to teach the principles of freedom to children.
